Thank you for your interest in the Strategic Alliance!
Please read these Security Guidelines carefully. Agreement to these guidelines is prerequisite to participation in any Strategic Alliance.
The following assumptions about Christian activities among the people groups targeted by The Alliance can be made:
1. Expatriates living among unreached peoples will undoubtedly generate a great deal of curiosity and may arouse a degree of suspicion. It is not unreasonable to assume that security forces will be able to monitor the movements, contacts, and communications of expatriates who are either living in the country on an extended basis or who travel into and out of the area regularly.
2. All Christian activities, once they are identified as such, will probably be carefully monitored by fundamentalists of local religions or ideologies (i.e. Muslims, Hindu, Buddhist, Communists). These groups are aware of the general goals and procedures of the Christian missionary organizations and because such organizations are perceived as a threat to their culture and faith, frequently react vigorously to Christians and Christian activities.
3. Fundamental believers of other faiths can be well organized. These groups have the ability to gather information in western countries as well as internally in their own nations. Experience has proven that caution must be exercised by Christian organizations and their workers who are based as far away as Asia, Europe and North America. It is entirely possible that comments about specific activities in an Alliance frontline made in such irreproachable contexts as church services and missions or prayer meetings could adversely affect the lives and activities of those ministering among unreached peoples. Security cautions are especially important when names, descriptions, and plans concerning Alliance frontline activities are included in printed material.
4. Recognizing that different organizations are taking different approaches regarding security, some being more open than others, we affirm the diversity of approaches and trust God to lead each organization into the ministry He has prepared for them.
Therefore, in view of the unique circumstances in which the evangelization of the targeted unreached peoples of The Alliance occurs, the following security guidelines must be followed by members of The Alliance:
1. In order to receive security clearance, members of an Alliance must be registered with that Alliance's coordinating office. To register they must complete a registration form and acknowledge having read and agreed to the guidelines outlined in this document.
2. Documents that can be given out freely are marked FOR PUBLIC USE. All documents of The Alliance which are marked DO NOT DISPLAY IN PUBLIC PLACE may only be distributed to other Alliance members. Do not post any such documents in a public place (including a church) or share the information in a public meeting. Do not forward any part of this update via email or place any part on a web site. Copies of these documents may be shown to trusted friends, but these friends may not retain them in their possession without reading and agreeing to the security guidelines (joining The Alliance). If a document does not have one of the above markings, it then MUST be treated as DO NOT DISPLAY IN PUBLIC PLACE.
3. The names of Frontline workers must be kept confidential from individuals outside The Alliance.
For those using FirstClass:
4. Once receiving your FirstClass user id and password you must change your password while connected for the first time (choose the menu service, then change password). Your FirstClass password must include at least one word and at least two numbers and/or symbols (example: firehose$3). You may not give your password out to anyone outside The Alliance. Users with notebooks/powerbooks may not keep their password in the setup while traveling. If your password has been compromised in any way you must immediately email fchelp@ywamsf.org to have your account disabled (or call 719-226-3000).
