The Nepali Strategic Alliance
Nepal, home of Mount Everest and the Himalayan Mountains, lies sandwiched between India and China, and is known as the “rooftop of the world.” The nation transitioned from an absolute monarchy to a constitutional democracy in 1990. Since then, Nepal’s leaders announced it as a secular state, and it is no longer the world’s Hindu kingdom. This has allowed a measured freedom of religion. Politically, Maoist rebels have interrupted peace and people still live in fear of violence. Nepal is a subsistence nation with most Nepalese living and working as farmers.
The church of Nepal has grown in recent years, and Nepal’s Christian workers are very involved in discipleship, teaching and Biblical education. Christians are moving into the marketplace and reaching out to surrounding nations as a missions sending nation. Despite these positive strides in Nepal, it remains extremely poor and still a strongly Hindu nation, with only 1.7% Christian.
Opportunities: English teaching, computer training, construction projects, medical projects, and worship and intercession teams.
Get involved right from where you are. Join the Nepali Strategic Alliance and receive regular prayer updates and learn how you can help change Nepal.
